Could faith believe in a Being more suited to all our needs, more fulfilling of our deepest longings? United with Jesus, we confidently aspire to be as much like our Creator as a creature can be. The advantage is mutual, for here is a Man, bound to us by the deepest love, who is not only tender to our

suffering nature but also wise and powerful enough to overcome our faults and patiently bear with our weaknesses. His humanity brings Jesus close to us, but united with His divine nature, it lifts us up to God. The Lord Jesus not only comforts us but also helps us grow into better people, which is the greater concern.

Wealthy people sometimes donate a small amount and modestly say, "This is my widow’s mite." But the widow gave two mites, not one. So, if you want to be accurate, make it two generous donations. And remember, she gave "all she had to live on," so it’s

not fair to compare your small gift to hers unless you’re giving all you have. If the wealthy would truly imitate the widow, what a flood of resources would pour in!
