Today’s Quote

True friendship is rare, but it is the shadow of divine love.

— Jonathan Edwards

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

Friendship, though very sweet and deeply blessed, can also cause the greatest misery when it’s unworthy and unfaithful. The more precious a good friend is, the more bitter it is when they betray you. "A faithless friend is sharper than a serpent’s tooth." It’s sweet to trust someone, but oh, how bitter

it is when that trust is broken, and you fall because of it. Solomon said, "There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." But that friend isn’t found in the shallow pleasures of the world. He tried them all and found them empty, passing through all their joys without satisfaction.

Huber, the great naturalist, observed that if a single wasp finds a source of honey or food, it will return to its nest and share the good news with its companions, who will then come in great numbers to enjoy the feast. Shouldn’t we, who have found the

sweetness of Christ, be just as eager to share it with others as the wasps are with their fellow insects?
