Today’s Quote

Nine times out of ten, spiritual declension from God begins in the neglect of private prayer.

— Charles Spurgeon

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

Without Him, we can do nothing, but by His almighty power, extraordinary things can happen. Everything depends on whether He shows or hides His power. Do we always rely on Him for both our inner life and our outward actions with the proper respect and dependence? Don’t we often rush ahead without waiting

for His call and act as if we don’t need His help? Let’s humble ourselves today for our past neglects, and now ask for the heavenly dew to rest upon us, the holy oil to anoint us, and the divine flame to burn within us. The Holy Spirit isn’t a temporary gift; He remains with the saints. We only need to seek Him properly, and we will find Him.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

Don’t let Jesus be just a shadow to you, or your religion will be empty. Don’t let Him be just a name, or your religion will be merely nominal. Don’t see Him as just a figure from history, or your religion will be mere fantasy. See Him as more than a

teacher, or you’ll fail to appreciate the power of His sacrifice. Let Him be everything to you, or you’ll miss out on His fullness. Place Him on a glorious high throne in your life, or you’ll never live a glorious life.
