Imagine a lake with twenty or thirty small streams flowing from it: there wouldn’t be a single strong river in the whole area. Instead, there would be a bunch of little brooks that dry up in the summer and become temporary torrents in the winter. They would all be useless for any great purpose because

there's not enough water in the lake to support more than one strong stream. Similarly, a person’s heart only has enough life in it to fully pursue one goal. You can't split your love between Christ and the world. No one can serve both God and money.

Souls are not saved by systems, but by the Spirit. Organizations without the Holy Spirit are like mills without wind, water, or steam power. Methods and arrangements without grace are like pipes from a dry well, lamps without oil, or banks without money.

Even the most biblically sound forms of church governance and effort are like clouds without rain until the "power from on high" is given.
