But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. — Matt 6:20 BSB

Saving money for a “rainy day” is something everyone agrees is wise. But if we save with an even higher purpose in mind—storing up treasures in heaven—it’s even more commendable. In truth, we only truly own what we’ve used well for Christ. Once someone learns the secret of “heavenly banking,” they’ve found the true philosopher’s stone, turning everything into eternal riches. Even the simplest things become treasures forever. A worn-out coat becomes a robe of righteousness, and a frayed old hat a crown of glory when worn in self-denying service for Christ. We should always live for the highest and best things.
