Today’s Quote

Jesus Christ is in every way sufficient to the vast desires of the soul.

— John Flavel

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

The imagination can sometimes soar to God with such power that even eagle’s wings cannot match it. It can be so strong that it almost seems to see the King in His beauty and the distant land. But just as it can lift us high, it can also take us to the lowest places on earth. Yet, I rejoice in knowing

one thing: that I can cry out when my imagination overwhelms me. So it is with the Christian. If he cries out, there is hope. Can you control your imagination? No, but the power of the Holy Spirit can. Ah, He will do it, and He does it even now, even on earth.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

January 28

Just as a hen broods over her chicks under her wings, so we should cherish all holy thoughts. Like the poor man’s lamb that ate from his plate and slept in his arms, godly meditation should be dear to us. Holy thoughts give birth to holy words and actions,

and they are hopeful signs of a renewed heart. Will not today provide some precious moment for contemplation? Does it not come like Peter’s fish with silver in its mouth?
