It’s better to have two sources of light than just one. The light of creation is bright; you can see God in the stars, His name is written in golden letters across the night sky, His glory is visible in the ocean waves, and in the trees of the field. But it’s even better to read about Him in two books

rather than one. You’ll find His glory more clearly revealed in the Bible, for He wrote this book Himself, and if you have the Holy Spirit, He’s given you the key to understanding it. Ah, dear friends, let’s thank God for this Bible; let’s love it and value it more than the finest gold.

We would never have known Christ’s love in all its depth and height if He hadn’t died; nor could we have understood the Father’s deep affection if He hadn’t given His Son to die. The everyday blessings we enjoy all speak of love, just as a seashell whispers

of the ocean when we hold it to our ear. But if we want to hear the full roar of the ocean of divine love, we must look beyond our daily blessings to the events of Calvary.
