Therefore I tell you, because her many sins have been forgiven, she has loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little. — Luke 7:47 BSB
The love of Christ has the power to transform even the worst sinner into a saint. The woman we see weeping at Jesus’ feet, wiping them with her hair and anointing them with expensive ointment, had once been an outcast.
One writer imagines her walking down the street in her extravagant clothes, catching a glimpse of Jesus through the window of the house where He was dining. That brief look at Jesus made her feel as though her old self had withered away, leaving her feeling empty.
In that moment, a new woman was born in her, and soon after, she was at the feet of her Savior. Her tears expressed her deep repentance, and the costly ointment reflected her honor, love, and gratitude. She gave all she had to the One who had saved her.
We all need the same blessing this woman received, and we can find it if we come to Jesus with true repentance.
