Many will follow in their depravity, and because of them the way of truth will be defamed. — 2 Pet 2:2 BSB
This chapter paints painful pictures, reminding us that life can be full of difficulty.
Sin exists in the world, and wherever there is sin, sorrow will follow. But in the midst of these warnings, we find a comforting promise: “The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation.” No matter what dangers or enmities we face, we don’t need to be afraid.
The wise man says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” The Psalms tell us that we can find refuge under the shadow of God’s wings, that the Lord is our keeper, and that He never sleeps.
Some people think they can’t live godly lives because of the evil surrounding them, but Christ knows how to protect and deliver His people, no matter where their duty calls them.
While we shouldn’t choose to live in danger, if our duty brings us there, we can trust in God’s protection.
