November 20

Then Jesus traveled throughout the towns and villages, teaching as He made His way toward Jerusalem. — Luke 13:22 BSB

Jesus spent His life going about doing good. While He performed many miracles, it’s likely that for every miracle, He performed countless small acts of kindness. Our verse today speaks of the many kindnesses He showed as He traveled through villages and countryside. Each town He visited was left better for His presence. He healed the sick, comforted the sorrowful, blessed the children, and brightened homes. Long after He had gone, people would talk about His visit and the kindnesses He showed.

Sometimes Jesus went on long journeys just to help one person. His visit to the town of Nain, for example, was made for the sole purpose of meeting a grieving mother and raising her only son from the dead. We should be just as willing to go out of our way to help others, even if it’s only to wipe away a tear or offer comfort to someone in need.
