You will look for Me, but you will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come. — John 7:34 BSB

Jesus was going to a place where only His friends, only the good, could enter—those who belong to His kingdom through new life.

He says the same to all who reject Him now as their Savior and Friend.

Heaven is pictured as a city with walls, and walls mean some will be excluded. But there are twelve gates into the heavenly city, and these gates are always open—day and night. Christ doesn’t want to keep people away from Him; He wants them to come. Every voice of the gospel calls them to come. But there’s no way to reach Christ except by becoming like Him.

The unholy cannot find their way to Him unless their hearts are transformed. The only way to be sure of being with Christ in His glory is to accept His grace and love now, while He stands at our door. Then we will be with Him forever, and nothing will ever separate us from Him.
