“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?” — Matt 16:15 BSB
What we think about Christ really does matter.
If we see Him as just a man, we may admire His character and teachings, but we can’t trust Him as our Savior. A mere man couldn’t atone for our sins by His death. A man couldn’t deliver us from temptation, help us in our weakness, or guide us through life’s confusing paths.
But if we believe in Christ as a divine being, everything changes. His death was sufficient to atone for all sin. He is able to defend, deliver, and save His people. The important question is, who is Christ to us personally? Is He only part of our creed, or is He our Savior, Friend, and Lord? It’s this personal belief that matters most.
Each of us is responsible for only one person’s opinions and beliefs—our own. And opinions alone aren’t enough; we need a personal, living faith in Christ if we want to be saved.
