Now then, be strong and courageous, for though Saul your lord is dead, the house of Judah has anointed me as their king. — 2 Sam 2:7 BSB
Courage is one of the finest qualities in a person.
In the world, this trait is so highly regarded that a person without it becomes an object of contempt. Nothing cuts deeper than being labeled a coward. Courage is often associated with acts of bravery in war, but we don’t need a battlefield to show courage.
There is a higher courage than that which wins medals in battle. It takes courage to remain true in the face of all the temptations to be false. It requires courage to do what’s right when everyone around you is doing wrong. It takes courage to confess Christ before a world that might mock or reject you.
We all need God to strengthen our hands because only He can make us strong for the service to which He calls us. We are set to fight the Lord’s battles. We have victories to win over evil and wrong. Without a brave heart and strong hands, we won’t be able to stand firm for God and truth in this world.
