We sought out the disciples in Tyre and stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit they kept telling Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. — Acts 21:4 BSB
Here, we see an example of ministry along the way.
Some people travel frequently, stopping at different places. If they have a heart to help others, they can find opportunities to do much good during these stops. When Paul’s ship stopped in Tyre, he used the time to visit the Christians there.
Later, when the ship reached Ptolemais, he greeted the believers. We’ll never know how much good he did for the Christians in those places.
When Paul’s friends realized what awaited him, they begged him not to go. Though he refused their pleas, their concern surely made his decision more difficult.
Peter once tried to stop Jesus from going to His death, but Jesus told him he was acting as Satan, trying to tempt Him. When our friends face difficult tasks, we should encourage them to stay strong, not shrink back. A true follower of Christ must be ready to endure any cost for His name.
