Now when Solomon had finished building the house of the LORD and the royal palace, and had achieved all that he had desired to do, — 1 Kgs 9:1 BSB

There’s a certain safety in staying busy.

As long as Solomon was occupied with his work, he was less likely to be drawn away from God. But once his great projects were finished, he was ready to relax and enjoy the success he had earned through years of effort.

However, instead of being a time of peace and security, this became his most dangerous moment. Popularity brings flattery, which can often lead to pride. Those who receive great honor don’t always stay humble. Solomon’s leisure, rather than bringing peace, brought danger. The worst part was that he didn’t even realize the danger he was in.

Life is full of hidden dangers, and our true safety comes from entrusting our souls to God, who sees all things. To help protect ourselves, we need to keep our hands and hearts full of the work He has given us to do.
