and lay them at the apostles’ feet for distribution to anyone as he had need. — Acts 4:35 BSB

The law of Christian love is central to Christian living. If you love Christ, you will also love your fellow believers. This law of love guided the first Christian community.

“All the believers were united in heart and mind.” They were like one family, and their love wasn’t just words—it showed in practical ways, as “no one claimed any of their possessions as their own.”

This doesn’t mean they gave up their personal property, but it does mean that those who had plenty shared with those in need. When we see someone in distress, we are called to care. A little girl once prayed, “Lord, I saw a poor girl today. She looked cold and hungry. But, Lord, it’s not really my business, is it?”

But it is our business when we see someone suffering or in need. We are meant to carry each other’s burdens.
