Morning

“No one ever spoke like this man!” — John 7:46 NET

You are the most handsome of all men! You speak in an impressive and fitting manner! For this reason God grants you continual blessings.—The sovereign Lord has given me the capacity to be his spokesman, so that I know how to help the weary.—His mouth is very sweet; he is totally desirable. This is my beloved! This is my companion!

All were speaking well of him, and were amazed at the gracious words coming out of his mouth.—He taught them like one who had authority, not like their experts in the law.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, … with all wisdom.—The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.—For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword.—For the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ.

Ps 45:2, Isa 50:4, Song 5:16, Luke 4:22, Matt 7:29, Col 3:16, Eph 6:17, Heb 4:12, 2 Cor 10:4-5

Evening

The elation of the wicked is brief. — Job 20:5 NET

“You will attack her offspring’s heel.”—“This is your hour, and that of the power of darkness!”—Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their humanity, so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death (that is, the devil).—Disarming the rulers and authorities, he has made a public disgrace of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour. Resist him, strong in your faith.—Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Evil men plot against the godly and viciously attack them. The Lord laughs in disgust at them, for he knows that their day is coming.—The God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet.—And the devil … was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, … and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever.
