Morning

The death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God. — Rom 6:10 NET

He … was numbered with the rebels.—Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.—He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed.—For by one offering he has perfected for all time those who are made holy.—He holds his priesthood permanently since he lives forever. So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.—While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, because we have now been declared righteous by his blood, we will be saved through him from God’s wrath.

So, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin, in that he spends the rest of his time on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires.

Evening

Maintain yourselves in the love of God. — Jude 1:21 NET

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me – and I in him – bears much fruit, because apart from me you can accomplish nothing.”

The fruit of the Spirit is love.—“My Father is honored by this, that you bear much fruit and show that you are my disciples. Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you; remain in my love. If you obey my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.”—But whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has been perfected.

“My commandment is this – to love one another just as I have loved you.”—God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.—God is love, and the one who resides in love resides in God, and God resides in him.
