“They do not belong to the world just as I do not belong to the world.” — John 17:16 NET

He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness.—“In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage – I have conquered the world.”

For it is indeed fitting for us to have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners.—That you may be blameless and pure, children of God without blemish though you live in a crooked and perverse society.

“Jesus from Nazareth, that God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.”—So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith.

The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.—“You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. Let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.”

One with a cheerful heart has a continual feast. — Prov 15:15 NET

“The joy of the LORD is your strength.”—For the kingdom of God does not consist of food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.—Be filled by the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your hearts to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for each other in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, acknowledging his name.

When the fig tree does not bud, and there are no grapes on the vines; when the olive trees do not produce, and the fields yield no crops; when the sheep disappear from the pen, and there are no cattle in the stalls, I will rejoice because of the Lord; I will be happy because of the God who delivers me!—As sorrowful, but always rejoicing.—Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings.
