And He said to them, “Come with Me privately to a solitary place, and let us rest for a while.” For many people were coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. — Mark 6:31 BSB
One of the greatest hindrances to spiritual growth is the failure to wait on God. Just as you cannot survive a full day on two or three breaths of air in the morning, you cannot sustain your spiritual life with a few moments of prayer. You must live in the atmosphere of God’s presence, breathing in His Spirit constantly throughout the day. Many Christians do not wait on God enough, but it takes hours of communion with the Holy Spirit to maintain spiritual health and vitality.
God is eager to send us the Holy Spirit and bless us. His primary desire is to quicken and sustain our spiritual life. He has infinite resources and is ready to pour them out on us if we will receive Him.
Lord, help me to dwell in You today, like a flower in the sunshine or a fish in the sea, living in Your love as the very air I breathe.
