I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. — John 15:5 BSB

How much can I do for Christ? We often ask ourselves this question, and usually answer, “As much as I can.” But have we ever thought that we might be able to do more than we can?

A Christian friend once shared how God had put it on her heart to do something for His cause that seemed beyond her ability. But when she dared to obey Him, He provided the assurance of His power and resources, and she was able to do far more than she thought possible. Her heart’s desire was fulfilled, and a great work was accomplished despite her initial limitations.

The apostle Paul says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” yet he also acknowledges, “We are not sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us.”

Oh, blessed insufficiency! Oh, blessed All-Sufficiency!
Oh, blessed nothingness that brings us everything!
Oh, blessed faith whose inheritance is:
“All things are possible to him who believes!”

O, to be found in Him in peace,
Spotless and without blame.
