Tell me, O one I love, where do you pasture your sheep? Where do you rest them at midday? Why should I be like a veiled woman beside the flocks of your companions? — Song 1:7 BSB

Beloved, do you not long for God's quiet—the inner chambers, the shadow of the Almighty, the secret of His presence? Perhaps your life has been all about driving and doing, or maybe straining, struggling, longing but not obtaining. Oh, for rest! To lie down on His bosom and know that you have everything in Him—that every question is answered, every doubt settled, every interest secured, every prayer answered, and every desire fulfilled. Lift up your cry, "Tell me, O You whom my soul loves, where You feed Your flock, where You make it rest at noon!"

Blessed be His name! He has this for us—His exclusive love. It is a love that each of us feels is entirely for ourselves, a love in which we can rest on His breast and have a place that no one else can take. And yet His heart is so vast that He can hold a thousand million souls just as near, and each one feels as if they alone possess Him, just as the thousands of little pools on the shore each reflect the entire sun.

Christ can teach us this secret of His deepest love.
