keep yourselves in the love of God as you await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life. — Jude 1:21 BSB
Some time ago, we enjoyed a magnificent sunset. The western sky looked like a great cluster of golden islands, with distant masses rising into towering mountains of glory. The hue was so beautiful that it seemed to reflect on the entire atmosphere. As we turned from the west to the east, the entire horizon glowed. The fields turned a strange, rich red, and the earth seemed bathed in heaven’s dew.
This is what happens when the love of God shines through our spiritual sky—it touches everything below, making life radiant with His light. What once was difficult becomes easy. What once was sharp becomes sweet. Labor loses its burden, and sorrow is lined with hope and joy.
There are two ways to live in His love: constant trust and constant obedience. His Word gives the command for both: “If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.”
