And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. — Phil 4:7 BSB
This isn’t just about having peace with God, but about experiencing the peace of God. The peace that surpasses all understanding is God’s own breath in the soul. Only He can maintain it, and He can do so in such a way that nothing will disturb it. Beloved, are you living in that peace?
God’s rest didn’t come until His work was finished, and neither will ours. We often begin our Christian journey by working, striving, and struggling in our own strength to save ourselves. But when we finally stop trying to do it ourselves, God steps in with His perfect rest, working His divine works in us.
Oh! Have you heard the glorious word
Of hope and holy cheer?
From heaven above, its tones of love
Are ringing in my ear.
The blessed Comforter has come,
And Christ will soon be here.
Oh, hearts that sigh, your help is nigh,
The Comforter is near.
He comes to lead us to our King
And prepare us to appear.
I’m glad the Comforter has come,
And Christ will soon be here.
