The LORD confides in those who fear Him, and reveals His covenant to them. — Ps 25:14 BSB
There are secrets of God's providence that His dear children can learn. His dealings with them often appear dark and fearful to the outward eye. But faith looks deeper and says, “This is God’s secret.” You only see the surface, but I can look deeper and discern the hidden meaning. Sometimes diamonds are wrapped in rough packages, concealing their value. When the tabernacle was built in the wilderness, its exterior wasn’t impressive. The valuable items were all inside, hidden beneath a covering of rough animal skins. In the same way, God may send you precious gifts wrapped in rough packaging. Don’t be discouraged by their appearance; you can be sure there are treasures of love, kindness, and wisdom inside. Don’t throw away a nugget of gold just because it has some quartz in it. If we accept what He sends and trust Him for the goodness within, even in the darkness, we will learn the deeper secrets of His providence.
