Listen, O daughter! Consider and incline your ear: Forget your people and your father’s house, — Ps 45:10 BSB
Like the ancient Levites, we too must be consecrated, forsaking even our closest relationships if they hinder our full liberty and service for the Lord. We must let go of anything that stands between us and God, whether business, comfort, or luxury. From now on, everything must be His business, pursued for Him, directed by Him, and wholly dedicated to Him. Like James and John, we must be willing to leave behind the hired servants, the comforts, and the ease of life. It may mean giving up being waited upon or indulged, facing privations, inconveniences, and humiliations, but it will be easy to do with Him.
Jesus never owned a piece of land, never rode in a carriage, and was laid to rest in a borrowed grave. But He is rich enough now, and so will you be if you are willing to suffer and wait.
