equip you with every good thing to do His will. And may He accomplish in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. — Heb 13:21 BSB
In the beautiful prayer at the close of Hebrews, we read: “Now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will.” The phrase “make you perfect” literally means “adjust you.” It is a great thing to be adjusted—to our surroundings, circumstances, people, and work. Rather than trying to adjust them to us, we should be adjusted to God’s will and plan for us in every aspect of life.
This is the secret to finding rest, power, and freedom in our work.
Oh, fill me with Thy fulness, Lord,
Until my very heart o’erflow
In kindling thought and glowing word,
Thy love to tell, Thy praise to show.
Oh, use me, Lord, use even me,
Just as Thou wilt, and when, and where;
Until Thy blessed face I see,
Thy rest, Thy joy, Thy glory share.
