To Glorify Christ Jesus

He will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and disclosing it to you. — John 16:14 BSB

The Holy Spirit cannot glorify the Lord Jesus in any better way than by showing us Christ’s own things. Jesus Himself is His best commendation. There’s no way to adorn Him except with His own glory.

The Comforter shows us what He has received from our Lord Jesus. We don’t see anything clearly until the Spirit reveals it. He has a special way of opening our minds and opening the Scriptures, and through this double process, He reveals Jesus to us. There’s an art to presenting something well, and the Spirit of truth is a master of this art. He shows us the things of Christ directly. This is a great privilege, as those who have experienced it will testify.

Let’s seek the illumination of the Holy Spirit—not to satisfy our curiosity or even just for personal comfort, but to glorify the Lord Jesus. Oh, to have worthy thoughts of Him! Low and inadequate ideas dishonor our precious Lord. Oh, to have such vivid and exalted impressions of His person, His work, and His glory that our hearts and souls cry out in praise! Where the Holy Spirit has enriched the heart with His teaching, the Savior is glorified beyond expression. Come, Holy Spirit, heavenly light, and reveal to us the Lord Jesus!
