Coming In; Going Out

You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. — Deut 28:6 BSB

The blessings of the law have not been done away with. Jesus confirmed the promises when He took on the penalties. If I obey the commands of my Lord, I can claim this promise without hesitation.

Today, I will come into my house without fear of bad news, and I will go into my prayer closet expecting to hear good news from the Lord. I won’t be afraid to examine myself or to check on my responsibilities. There’s a lot of work to be done within my own soul; may the blessing of the Lord Jesus be upon all of it, for He has promised to stay with me.

I also must go out. I often feel timid, wishing I could just stay inside and avoid the sinful world. But I must go out and fulfill my calling. I must go out to help my fellow believers and be a witness to the lost. I must stand up for the faith and fight against evil. Oh, may the Lord’s blessing be upon my going out today! Lord, let me go where You lead, on Your missions, under Your command, and with the power of Your Spirit.

Lord Jesus, come into my heart and be my guest; and walk with me as I go out, causing my heart to burn with love for You as You speak to me along the way.
