Exceedingly Precious
“They will be Mine,” says the LORD of Hosts, “on the day when I prepare My treasured possession. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him. — Mal 3:17 BSB
There will come a day when the crown jewels of our great King will be counted, to ensure they match the inventory His Father gave Him. My soul, will you be among those precious jewels? You are precious to Him if He is precious to you, and if He is yours today, you will be His on that great day.
In Malachi’s time, the Lord’s chosen people spoke with each other in such a way that God Himself listened to their conversation. He liked it so much that He wrote it down and made a special book of their words, which He placed in His record room. Because He was pleased with their conversation, He was pleased with them as well. Pause, my soul, and ask yourself: If Jesus were listening to your conversations, would He be pleased? Do your words glorify Him and encourage your brothers and sisters? Be honest with yourself.
What an honor it will be to be considered one of the Lord’s crown jewels! This honor belongs to all the saints. Jesus not only says, “They are mine,” but, “They will be mine.” He bought us, sought us, brought us in, and is shaping us into His image, and He will fight for us with all His might.
