God's Promise Keeps
Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again. — Eccl 11:1 BSB
We shouldn’t always expect immediate results from the good we do, nor should we limit our efforts to people or places that seem likely to repay our work. Like the Egyptian who scatters seed on the Nile’s waters, it may seem like the grain is wasted. But when the flood recedes, the seed sinks into the fertile soil, and a harvest springs up quickly. Today, let’s do good to those who are ungrateful or resistant. Let’s teach those who seem careless or stubborn, because even the most unlikely places can hold potential for a harvest. Our work for the Lord is never in vain.
It’s our part to scatter the seed, but God will fulfill His promise: “You will find it.” He will not let His word fail. The good things we do and say will live on, and we will one day see the results. It may not happen right away, but in time, we will reap what we have sown. We must learn patience, or God may test our patience. Scripture says, “After many days,” and sometimes those days turn into months or years, but God’s promise remains. Let’s be faithful today in doing good, trusting that His Word will come true.
