Complete Deliverance
But I will deliver you on that day, declares the LORD, and you will not be delivered into the hands of the men whom you fear. — Jer 39:17 BSB
When the Lord’s people suffer for Him, He will send them sweet messages of love. Sometimes, He will even give them good news to share with those who support them. Ebed-melech, a humble Ethiopian, was kind to Jeremiah during a time of persecution, and because of that, the Lord sent him a special promise through the prophet. We should always be mindful of God’s servants who are suffering for His name, for He will not forget to reward us for helping them.
Ebed-melech was delivered from the men he feared. He was of low status, but the Lord took care of him. Though many were slain by the Chaldeans, not a single person could harm him. We, too, may fear powerful people who are against us, but if we have been faithful to the Lord in difficult times, He will be faithful to us. What can anyone do to us without God’s permission? He controls all things and can silence even the fiercest of enemies. If we fear the Lord, we need not fear anyone else. No act of kindness toward a suffering servant of God will go unrewarded. If we stand up for Jesus, He will stand up for us.
