More than Mere Words
In fact, God raised Him from the dead, never to see decay. As He has said: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’ — Acts 13:34 BSB
Nothing in man is certain, but everything of God is sure. Especially His covenant mercies, which are as David described: "an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and sure."
We can be sure the Lord meant His mercy. His promises are not just words—they are truth, full of substance. Even if it seems like a promise might fall through because of death, it never will, for the Lord will fulfill His Word.
We are also sure that these promised mercies will come to all of God’s people in due time. From the least to the greatest, they are guaranteed. And the Lord will continue to show mercy. He doesn’t give and take away; what He has given is a token of much more to come. What we haven’t yet received is just as certain as what we’ve already experienced. So let us wait patiently before the Lord. There is no reason for doubt. His love, His Word, and His faithfulness are sure. Many things in life may be questionable, but of the Lord we can sing:
"For His mercies shall endure
Ever faithful, ever sure."
