A Name Guarantee
And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. — John 14:13 BSB
Not every believer has yet learned to pray in Christ's name. To pray not only for His sake but in His name, with the full authority that He gives, is a higher form of prayer. There are certain requests we would not dare to make in His name, for it would be a gross misuse of such a sacred authority. But when the request is so clearly right that we can confidently place Christ's name upon it, then we can be sure that it will be granted.
Prayer is all the more certain to succeed when it is for the glory of the Father through the Son. Such prayers glorify God’s truth, faithfulness, power, and grace. When prayers are granted in Jesus’ name, it shows the Father's love for His Son and the honor He has given Him. The glory of Jesus and the glory of the Father are so intertwined that any grace that magnifies one magnifies the other. The channel is made glorious by the fullness of the fountain, and the fountain is honored by the channel through which its blessings flow. If granting our prayers would dishonor the Lord, we would not ask; but since His glory is at stake, we will pray continually in His beloved name, knowing that both God and His people delight in this fellowship of grace.
