Spurgeon's Prayer: Lifting Our Burdens to God
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
— 1 Peter 5:7 (BSB)
Leave your burden at the Lord's feet, and bear a song away.
— Charles Spurgeon
Heavenly Father, as we come to the close of this day, we bring our burdens to You. We cast all our cares upon You because we know that You care for us. The challenges and worries of this world can often feel overwhelming, but You have promised to carry our burdens and give us peace. Lord, help us release these burdens into Your loving hands, trusting that You are in control.
We ask that You shut the door on the world for us tonight. Help us forget our worries, lift our burdens, and draw us close to You. We long to rest in Your presence, free from the distractions and cares of the day. Just as we lay down our heads to rest, let us lay down every worry at Your feet, knowing that You will care for us through the night.
Lord Jesus, we do not ask for signs or visions, but simply for Your presence to be real to us. Help us feel Your peace and comfort tonight. You are our Redeemer, our closest relative, and You have paid the ultimate price for our lives. We rest in the knowledge that we belong to You, and You will never leave us nor forsake us.
As we close this day, we trust You with all that concerns us. We thank You for the promise of Your care and protection, and we surrender everything into Your hands. Take away the distractions and anxieties that weigh us down, and replace them with Your perfect peace. Let our hearts be still as we rest in Your love tonight.
