Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow. — Jas 1:17 BSB

We receive many good things through the love and care of friends. A father works and saves, leaving an inheritance for his children. Our lives are blessed by the kindness and affection of others, with helping hands constantly reaching out to us. We owe more than we can ever estimate to the love and generosity of others.

However, every one of these blessings is ultimately a gift from God. The human hands that bring them are merely messengers of His grace. James reminds us that everything God gives is good, and every blessing from Him is perfect. Sometimes we may think that what we receive from God is not good—especially when it comes in the form of loss or disappointment—but there is always a blessing wrapped up in everything God sends to His children.
