And the LORD said to Satan: “The LORD rebukes you, Satan! Indeed, the LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you! Is not this man a firebrand snatched from the fire?” — Zech 3:2 BSB
The Lord is the friend of His people and will never stand idly by while Satan plots against them. He is the defender, especially of the defenseless. This aspect of God’s love is seen throughout the Scriptures. God is the protector of the weak. In the Mosaic law, specific provisions were made for widows and orphans. When the harvests were gathered, something was always left for them. The poor were given special protection to shield them from the oppression of the rich and strong. God’s concern for the poor appears even in the smallest details of life.
Every child of God is under His particular care. The weakest among them are safe in His keeping, even in the greatest dangers. No harm can touch any of them while they rest in His arms. We can safely leave our protection in the Lord’s hands when Satan attacks us, and when others seek to harm us.
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord!” Romans 8:38-39
“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand!” John 10:28
