Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. — Ps 27:10 BSB
We know how deeply our father and mother love us. It seems there could be no stronger love. Even when a child acts wickedly, parental love remains tender and faithful. Though the world may turn a wayward child away, the door to home is always open.
But this verse tells us that even if a parent’s love fades and the home door is shut, God’s love never fails. This promise is for anyone who has fallen to the lowest depths of shame, even if their mother has given up on them.
God’s love is stronger and more enduring than human love.
This is also a verse for orphans. When God takes away father and mother, He steps in to offer His special care and love. The world feels incredibly lonely when both parents are gone. Life is never the same, and there seems to be no place to take the heart’s burdens. But God remains, and in the absence of human love, His divine love becomes all the more evident.
Cast your cares on God—His love never fails.
