My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When shall I come and appear in God’s presence? — Ps 42:2 BSB
A person may have everything else—riches, honor, friends, status, health, and the joys of home—but without God, none of these things can bring true and lasting happiness. On the other hand, if we have God, we are blessed, even if we have nothing else.
A man came home from work one day, weighed down by the news of financial ruin. He collapsed into a chair and said, “It’s all gone. We’re ruined. We have nothing left.” His young child, sensing his distress, climbed onto his lap and said, “But, Daddy, you still have me and Mommy.” Indeed, even with human love remaining, he was still rich. And beyond that, even if everything is taken away, as long as we have God and His love, we are still abundantly rich.
