A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish, till He leads justice to victory. — Matt 12:20 BSB
It’s a great honor when God sends us people who need comfort or help. But anyone with a thoughtful heart must tremble at the responsibility that comes with such a sacred task. It’s a serious moment when a surgeon faces a life-or-death operation or when a doctor must provide care during critical illness. Yet, it’s an even more serious moment when a human soul is entrusted to us—to help correct its faults, comfort its sorrow, or heal its deep wounds. For this kind of work, we need divine wisdom, skill, and great sensitivity. Only Christ can truly teach us how to care for people in their need and grief. His touch is so gentle, and His skill is perfect. He never breaks a bruised reed, and He will give us the wisdom and tenderness to help those who are hurting.
