You are to imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. — 1 Cor 11:1 BSB

You may think your life has no influence on others—but it does. There are people who will follow your example. If you are reverent, they will be reverent. If you are dishonest, they will be dishonest. Your influence touches many lives, leaving either a blessing or a curse.

One man shared his story of coming to Christ: “If I had been going to hell alone,” he said, “I would have kept going. But one night, I came home from drinking, and I looked at my sleeping children. I held a lamp over their faces, and in the silence, I saw a terrifying vision of myself descending into hell with my innocent children clinging to my garments. I couldn’t bear it. I could ruin myself, but I couldn’t drag them down with me. Right there beside their bed, I knelt and asked God to save me, for their sake.”

Few motivations are stronger than the knowledge that others’ futures depend on how we live our lives. We should live in such a way that we can say, “Imitate me, and you will live a noble life.”
