We who are strong ought to bear with the shortcomings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please Himself, but as it is written: “The insults of those who insult You have fallen on Me.” — Rom 15:1-3 BSB

Some people seem specially gifted to be helpers of others, building them up. Those who have questions or are struggling for light or guidance turn to them instinctively, trusting that they will find the help they need.

There is a great need for such helpers. Some questions cannot be answered by books or sermons. What is needed is a friend—someone who can understand and offer sympathy. No other ministry in the world is as sacred as this one, which touches lives in their deepest moments, when, without wise help, they might be lost. Any one of us can be this kind of helper.
