But Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” — Acts 3:6 BSB
Someone once said, "It’s hard to know how to help people when you can’t give them material things like blankets or food." For many people, this is true. They don’t know how to help others except by providing physical necessities. But the needs that material things satisfy are often the smallest. There are far better ways of helping: offering sympathy, hope, cheer, courage, inspiration, and comfort. These are the blessings most people need far more than blankets or food.
As far as we know, Jesus never gave money to anyone—He didn’t have it to give. Yet, no one has ever given more true charity than He did. He gave encouragement, love, and the hope of higher things.
None of us are too poor to give help like this. We may not have money, but from a warm and loving heart, we can offer the kind of help that money can’t buy. We should always keep a gentle heart, and then we can be a blessing to many.
