saying: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.” — Job 1:21 BSB

God’s love is constant, whether we are walking in the brightness of joy or the gloom of grief. His love remains the same in times of blessing and in times of loss.

Yet, it doesn’t always feel that way. We easily believe that God loves us when He is showering us with blessings, but when suffering and sorrow come, we often feel as if His love has lessened or changed. However, the truth is that sometimes the richest blessings come through the things that make us grieve rather than those that make us glad. At the very least, we know that the same love sends both joy and sorrow. That fact alone should bring us comfort.

It is always love that comes from God, no matter what form it takes. We need never doubt this. “For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and punishes every son whom He receives” (Hebrews 12:6).
