As the women bowed their faces to the ground in terror, the two men asked them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? — Luke 24:5 BSB

A dying Christ alone will not satisfy your heart. While you may praise the love that was crucified for you, your soul longs for love from a Savior who lives. Memories of a friend who has passed can be sweet—like the lingering fragrance of flowers after they’ve been removed from a room—but how unsatisfying are those memories when your heart craves the real presence, touch, and tenderness of that friend! Similarly, the memory of Christ’s love shown on the cross will not fully satisfy your soul’s deep hunger. You need the living One as your friend!

“My soul thirsts for God, for the living God!” cried the psalmist, and every redeemed soul echoes the same. Only when we grasp the truth of a living Christ are our hearts truly satisfied. We yearn for love—a heart to lean upon, a hand to touch ours, a real, personal friendship to come into our lives with its sympathy, companionship, and comfort. The living Christ provides all this to us, if we embrace the blessed truth of His resurrection. “I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever!” Revelation 1:18
