But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. — Heb 10:12 BSB
It’s a core belief of our faith that the man Christ Jesus is now at God’s right hand, not as a shadowy figure, but as a real, living man. “There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” God looks upon Him with delight and love, viewing Him as the representative of all who are saved by Him. He is the Head, and the Church is His body; He is the Bridegroom, and the Church is His bride; He is the great High Priest, and the Church is the house of God. Christ lives at the right hand of the Father, continually presenting His perfect intercession on behalf of His people. His presence there is the Church’s joy and hope. “Because I live, you shall live also.”
We direct our prayers to Him; our faith rests upon His glorious Person. We place our hope in His blood and take shelter in His righteousness. We long to feel His presence, experience His love, and know His power. These desires arise from a heart taught by the Holy Spirit. They give us boldness to enter into the holiest place, for we know that blood has been shed—the blood of the Son of God. A new and living way has been consecrated for us to walk in, and Christ, our great High Priest, stands over the house of God, constantly presenting His merits on our behalf. So, those who feel their deep need of Him, who can’t live or die without Him, are encouraged to draw near with boldness and find communion with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
