They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they did not love their lives so as to shy away from death. — Rev 12:11 BSB
It is not just the knowledge of “the blood of the Lamb” from Scripture that counters Satan’s accusations, but the blood applied and sprinkled on the conscience. We read in Hebrews 12:22-24, “You have come to the blood of sprinkling, which speaks better things than that of Abel.” Coming to the blood is the first step toward victory, but defeat often precedes conquest in the Christian’s journey. The victory over sin, death, and hell is not easily won, and we often fail before we look to the right source for help. The first glimmer of hope usually comes from seeing “the blood of the Lamb,” though it may seem distant at first.
Like a lighthouse guiding a storm-tossed mariner, even a distant view of the Lamb’s blood provides direction for those navigating life’s deep waters. This light, though dim at first, signals the dawn of hope. The Spirit brings light to the Word and raises faith in the soul to believe that the Lamb has been slain, that His blood was shed, and that a new and living way has been opened through His torn flesh. This provides a foothold for the accused soul to resist Satan’s accusations. The believer admits their guilt but clings to the truth that the Lamb’s blood cleanses from all sin. As Isaiah says, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him”—the blood-stained banner of the crucified Redeemer. True victory, however, comes when the blood is applied to the heart, bringing peace to the conscience and driving Satan away.
