The Bible is a letter God has sent to us. Prayer is a letter we send to Him.

Spurgeon’s Daily Help
"Search the Scriptures." The Greek word here for "search" implies a thorough, diligent search, like when someone is looking for gold or a hunter is pursuing game. We shouldn’t be satisfied with just skimming a chapter or two. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we must carefully dig into the deeper
meaning of the Word. Holy Scripture requires serious study—much of it can only be truly understood through careful exploration. Skimming won’t benefit you; you must dig and mine until you find the hidden treasures. The Scriptures demand to be searched thoroughly.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

Just as soldiers show their scars and recount their battles when they finally live out their old age in peace, we too will one day, in the land we are journeying towards, speak of God’s faithfulness that carried us through all our trials. These earthly
struggles prepare us for heavenly conversations, so we shouldn’t wish them away. How could we want to hear it said of the saints dressed in white, "These are they who came out of great tribulation," and then realize we didn’t share in their experience?
