Today’s Verse

Matthew 6:9-13

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (KJV)

Amen. (KJV)

So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ (BSB)

Pray like this: “‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’ (WEB)

So pray this way: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored, may your kingdom come, may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we ourselves have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (NET)

The mercy of God is infinite! He is infinitely patient with our weaknesses, our infirmities, our faults and failures.

Spurgeon’s Daily Help

Be courageous concerning this, O Christian! be not dispirited, as though your spiritual enemies could never be destroyed; you are Christ's, and sin has no right to you.

You are able to overcome them—not in your own strength—the weakest of them would be too much for you in that; but you can and shall

overcome them through the blood of the Lamb. Do not ask, "How shall I dispossess them, for they are greater and mightier than I?" but go to the strong for strength, wait humbly upon God, and the mighty God of Jacob will surely come to the rescue, and you shall sing of victory through His grace.

The Spurgeon Birthday Book

September 5

A little tampering with conscience is dangerous; it is like the dropping of a stitch, which may unravel all the work. We used to say in our childhood: "He who steals a single pin Will live to steal a bigger thing."

The rhyme was bad, but the doctrine

was true. If we violate conscience, even upon the smallest matter, we may come at last to have no conscience at all.

Spurgeon’s Quote

Christ has done so much for us, that if we could do for Christ ten thousand times more than we have ever done, we would only rejoice to do it, cost what it may.
