Cultivate a cheerful disposition; endeavor, as much as lies in you, always to bear a smile about with you; recollect that this is as much a command of God as that one which says, "You shall love the Lord with all your heart."

Let us take the pure gold of thankfulness and the jewels of praise and make

them into another crown for the head of Jesus.

If you have wandered like Noah's dove, flying over the waste of waters, the Lord will receive you, even as Noah received the weary bird. He put out his hand at once, and "pulled her in unto him, into the ark"; and even thus does the divine Savior pluck

us in to himself. Our wing is too weary to bear us to the ark of salvation, and we are ready to faint into the floods of despair, and then the pierced hands encompass and upbear us. Thus is Jesus our Noah, our truest rest and rest-giver.
